Marlow Moth Grand Prix events and Inland Championship

After the incredible highlight of the Moth Worlds in Australia in January, UK Moth Class racing commences with the first of the seasons Grand Prix events at Queen Mary SC over 26-27 March, where the event doubles up as the Inland Championships.

Following the increased popularity of the Class in 2010, the rising number of new sailors with boats, and the level of interest shown at the Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace, the Queen Mary event will provide a good indicator to the opening early form.

Whilst a number of sailors have been racing and training over the winter period, it will good to see who turns up with their race face on, and who have yet to find last years foiling mojo. With both top sailors and newcomers attending, it will yet again prove both to be a great balance of spectacle and camaraderie amongst sailors of all calibers.

With an exciting season ahead, the Class has secured key interest from a number of sponsors for 2011, with Marlow Ropes serving as the title sponsor for the Grand Prix and Inland Championship. “We are pleased to be supporting the Moth Class” said Paul Honess of Marlow Ropes, “as we too are always looking ahead to future innovation and development, thereby ensuring that we continue to operate at the forefront of rope technology, and our customers benefit from the related performance gains from the use of our products”.

“There is no doubt a perfect synergy between the Moth class and Marlow Ropes” says Mike Lennon, UK Moth Class President, “Marlow’s innovative range of ropes ideally suit all control applications for the Moth, including the standing rigging. So I believe their products will benefit our sailors, and especially the lucky recipients through the event prizes”.

The first race takes place at 12.00 on Sat 26th March, with the briefing commencing at 11.00am.
