It only seems like yesterday when the moth fleet descended on to Weymouth for the 2013 Nationals held in Portland Harbour which saw nearly 70 competitors take part. However, as every sailor knows time and tide wait for no one so the moth fleet moves a bit eastward along the south coast for the next moth event of the calendar at Hayling Island Sailing club.

Hayling is regarded as the premier sailing club on the south coast and one of the only clubs that can, offer 4 race courses 3 out in the bay and 1 in the harbour. This often means that when other clubs have abandoned racing along the coast hayling can often race.  Along with its proven race management running countless opens world and nationals every year it is one of the reason the Moth class is to hold the Moth worlds in 2014. Hayling also has a reliable thermal sea breeze that often turns up at 11 in the morning and has been known to build to 18 knots through the day, but it’s never all about the racing in the moth fleet , and with Haylings great catering team that are more than capable of laying on a fantastic off the water party and lay on some fantastic meals as well.
So this year the Moth open is to be held at the same state of the tide as the Worlds will be, allowing for racing in the harbour if required. The class will also be laying on post-race beer and pasta which will be paid for by our sponsors Noble Marine. This is also going to be run as a Q&A session for the world next year with Mike Lennon stepping up to the mic for this. There will also be meals at the club in the evening this will need to be booked and paid for at registration sit down for 07:30 pm.
The First start will be at 12:00 on Saturday and the Briefing will be at  10:00
See you all there for a chance to sail on the location of the Moth world 2014 so lets get behind the class and make this a big one.
